2 days of trekking into the cajon del Maipo Valley

Day 1

Transfer from Hotel in Santiago to Mt. Purgatorio.

 

The Cajón del Maipo is a must-see destination in the Metropolitan Region. Its rivers, mountains, valleys and landscapes make it a mystical and unforgettable place.

Mt. Purgatorio is located in the southern sector of our city of Santiago of Chile, it is a hill that intimidates many by its name, but without a doubt that name is not part of the reality of the hill. He has nothing in Purgatory. The hill from the beginning is friendly on the way up, it has wonderful vegetation and birdlife and a slope that gradually rises. We could say that the final stretch of the mountain is by far the most difficult and it is in this part where it is totally worth the effort and give everything to reach its characteristic summit that we can appreciate from all over the Maipo and Pirque Valley.

From the summit we can see part of the Cajón del Maipo and sectors such as El Canelo and El Manzano, which are seen in their entirety. But, the best without a doubt is to see the majesty of the Cordillera de Los Andes, which is located just in front of Mt. Purgatorio. In addition, the view towards Cerro Minillas and Cerro Punta de Damas stands out, rising and imposing with their snowy peaks.

You can enjoy a day at the foot of the great Andes Mountain Range.

 

 We invite you to enjoy this trekking considered a medium high mountain trekking because of its altitude, but with the characteristics of a medium mountain trekking because of its difficulty.

You will know and see the endemic flora and fauna of the central Andes and central Chile.

You will enjoy a unique journey into the interior of the Andes Mountains, between large rock walls, mountains and rivers.

Day 2: Chikiyan hostel Cajon del maipo to Trekking Manzano´s Caves

Participant are welcomed at the hostel, where we leave our vehicles. Here, a briefing is held before the activity, and it's the starting point for the hike

The caves of Manzano are rocky formations that have been eroded by the wind, and they were inhabited by the indigenous people of the area before the arrival of the Incas.

The trail to be traversed is lined with characteristic species of the sclerophyllous forest such as Quillay, Peumo, Boyen, and Litre among others. After passing through the forest, the path continues near one of the busiest climbing sectors in the area called "Los Manyos," a place from where the first general view of the Manzano and San José valleys can be seen.

Throughout the trail, you can appreciate the characteristic geoforms of the area, as well as the sighting of a large number of raptors that circulate daily in the area.

The grand final reward after a full day of effort is the view, from the caves, of the highest volcano in the central area, towering at the end of the valley with its imposing 6570 meters above sea level; the Tupungato Volcano.

Reservations

IMPORTANT:

REFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICIES:

- 100% of the departure must be paid in advance to reserve your spot.

- If the client does not appear at the meeting point at the indicated time, it will be his/her responsibility, and he/she must assume any extra expenses.

- If the client cancels 14 days before the activity after confirmation and deposit, no refund will be made.

- If the client cancels due to covid symptoms, they must present a PCR with QR code indicating that they were positive on the date of the tour.

 

Ecocaminante POLICIES:

 The company reserves the right to cancel the program in its entirety for reasons such as:

- Logistical problems (such as strikes)

- Social instability

- Acts of nature

- Quarantines or any circumstance that may make the implementation of the program inoperative.

- The company will notify the client as soon as possible and offer the possibility of changing their reservation to an alternative program.

- If the client does not accept the change in the itinerary, the company will refund 100% of the money given for the reservation. However, this does not include any other expenses the client has incurred to prepare for the trip (including transportation tickets or accommodation reservations).
